jimmie Schindler

Founder of Bandidos Mexican Restaurants

August 22, 1934 – March 26, 2020

a TRIBUTE to our founder

James A. “Jimmie” Schindler was born in 1934 during the Great Depression in Geneva, IN.  He was the youngest of nine children. He was placed in the St. Vincent Villa Catholic Orphanage in Fort Wayne at the age of three.

After he finished the fifth grade, he was placed in a foster home, along with his brother Joe, where they were terribly mistreated. Despite his rough upbringing, he managed to maintain an extremely positive and cheerful outlook.

Jimmie was the first in his family to graduate college and attended John Carroll University Class of 1956.  Afterwards he served in the US Army as a tank commander.

Jimmie founded Bandido’s Mexican Restaurants in 1980 and owned Jimmie’s Pizza Inns.

He married Fry Schindler on June 3, 1981 and is the father of seven children and an ever-growing number of grandchildren.  He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a supporter of Bishop Luers High School.

Bandidos family thanks Jimmie for all he has done and for all the lives he impacted!  Go Bandidos! May God bless his soul!
